Squirrels can quickly become a real nuisance when they are nesting in your home. The most common place they are found inside a property is in a roof space or behind fascia boards. Squirrels often gain access through a breach in the roof or under the eaves of the property. Even a small hole can be exploited by the squirrel. Once inside they cause damage to the insulation and have a habit of chewing on electrical cables, this can become a fire hazard. Bait the trap tray with food such as peanuts or broken biscuits then throw a few into the trap entrance and sprinkle a few more around the trap. Before purchasing a trap please consider the welfare or the animal in the trap BY LAW MUST BE CHECKED EVERY DAY AS A MINIMUM. Once caught the squirrel should be humanely dispatched, an air weapon is ideal. Drowning is not an option and could land you in serious trouble. Please only buy a live trap when you have considered these points.
