To undertake a through manual inspection to detect if bed bugs are present usually takes around half an hour per room. In a domestic setting this is acceptable. However in a hotel the detection process could take days or even weeks. We can screen and then treat for bed bugs in ships, aircraft, hotels and on public transport.
A properly trained bed bug detection dog can detect bugs within minutes, sometimes even seconds of entering a room. Therefore the time and the cost of detecting if bed bugs are or are not present is significantly reduced.
A canine inspection can"for a few pounds per room" significantly reduce the treatment cost, if bed bugs are discovered, as a manual inspection won't be required prior to the treatment. Also if routinely carried out the bed bug activity would still be at a low level and therefore less expensive to control.
Unlike pest control companies who use their own bed bug detection dogs our provider is impartial and has no financial interest in detecting "or telling you" that you that they have detected bed bug activity.
Bed bug dog handler
Previously a Police dog handler in the UK adam completed 3 years service as a Police Officer in Australia. Using his dog handling experience he founded Canine Detection Services in Australia and successfully trained dogs to detect termites.
On returning to UK he began training dogs to detect bedbugs and has recently made successful searches of both hotels and University accommodation.
Bed bug pandemic
Bedbugs are being considered by some industry experts as the next pandemic. The hotel industry in the US is already reporting huge problems with bed bugs, and more importantly the litigation and accountability of hotels whereby guests are being bitten whilst asleep.
Ramada Plaza Hotel in San Francisco settled a claim for $71,000 (US) for bed bugs bites and a law suit at the Hilton Hotel in Ohio reportedly settled for $5 million (US). There are now several cases in UK of legal action being taken by guests as a result of bites in hotel rooms.
Research by University of Florida suggested that dogs were 98% effective at detecting bedbugs, whereby a visual inspection by a person is significantly lower between 17 - 30 %.

Reactive searches based on information and claims made by residents/students can also be undertaken.
